Things you should not do when suffering from sciatica

Things you should NOT DO when suffering from sciatica.

INTRODUCTION

There is a fine line between the pain you are experiencing and the thing you do to cause it. I will just explain to you right now that sometimes you could be doing absolutely nothing and there is still pain. Not to worry, becuase I am here to list some things you should not do when diagnosed with sciatica.

1) Lifting heavy objects

We all know how this goes, first; you say it's only one box then it's two suddenly you have done a full days work griting through all the pain you just put yourself through. Honestly, it's better to wait and get someone with better back strength or health to help you so that you can make it easier on yourself.

2) Walking for too long

While a morning walk might be nice to get your heart rate up, to feel that boost of energy when you need that extra push to start your day, it might be also as effiective to consider the amount of walking you are doing and regulating when is a good time to stop before you are unable to walk.

3) Sitting in one position for too long

I have also experienced this, where my project is due, I sit there, 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours long forgetting that a lot of time went by eventually then the pain gets so excruciating that I have to get up and try to walk around a bit to looosen back up the muscles because of the amount of tention it created.

4) The types of exercise you partake in.

When you want to do those work outs that look nice on screen but don't really do you justice for your sciatica condition, It's very complicated, you need to see what exercise works and what doesn't.

Excercises like Ab crunches, leg lifts and even dead lifts might be the hardest things you can do to strain your sciatic; never go to the max, please be careful, Keeping form in your exercises is key.

5) Bad posture

I know it all to well, how you sit, stand and walk play a huge role in the overall health of your back and by extension, the regulation of a good posture. You must be able to practice sitting and standing up straight in order to reduce pain and strengthen your spinal or back muscles.

6) Running for too long

Keep in mind that the sciatic nerve is damaged and as a result, the longness of your runs should be reduced to a considerable amount to suit your capabilities, otherwise you can severly damage yourself which can result to something far worse that requires surgery, please be very cautious.

7) Standing for too long

This may seem like a no-brainer, which is why you may be thinking that it's way to simple to get hurt by standing for long periods of time, well, my friend, you are wrong. Strain in any form, especially putting pressure on the nerve to do continuous standing is definitely just as strenuous as lifting something heavy; remember, it is your back and spine that holds up the weight that you carry.

8) Temperature change

Well of course, we can't change the weather to suit our body types but the best we can do is take the nessassary precautions to prevent more pain on our part, for example; when it's cold, wear clothes that are suitable to and for your feeling beacuse trust me your body feels all that you think it does not. The only difference is that, it is amplified with nerve damage.

9) Lots of bending

We do a lot of this, especially when we are cleaning and while some of us love to clean, Moderation is always key when trying to do the needful, I was one that tried to do everything in one day and the next day, I couldn't get out of bed which is the case for many of us when we are so eager to get everything done today, but think about it this way; if you do some of the work in Moderation everyday for a week, wouldn't it still get done? It may not be the pace you wanted to do it at but, that's the new routine we have to work with.

10) Certain stretching positions

Like you, I have watched many youtube videos and online blogs; telling me that these are the stretches to try for relief or to cure the pain but when tried, it honestly did nothing for me, it was when I finally tried using BIOFREEZE, that got me through the bad days and nights.

11) Crossing your legs when you sit

Not only do we know that this position essentially cuts off the blood circulation in your legs if you do it long enough, where you can actually start to feel the tingling or numbness, but even more now that you practice that bad habit, I too am guilty of this, so the idea is to train ourselves appropriately for our various pain tolerances.
