Sciatica verses Scoliosis

Sciatica verses Scoliosis

Scoliosis is when the spine curves sideways to the right or to the left. In some people, it's visible while others may need to take an X-ray to actually see the curve in the spine which is most often diagnosed in adults. Scoliosis can occur in people with conditions such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy.

Sciatica refers to the pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg, typically Sciatica affects only one side of your body.

How does Scoliosis affect your Sciatica?

Speaking from experience, I actually started out with scoliosis first, then graduated to having sciatica later on. Honestly I had back pain all my life and it was common to the point that I lived most of my days in pain.

It wasn't until one day when I decided to visit a private doctor.

The doctor announced to me that my spine was shifted slightly to the left and proceeded to take out this huge syringe.

Then I realised that I had Scoliosis and we all know how that ended.

So like I said the Scoliosis graduated in 2019 to full blown Sciatica and now I suffer from them both combined, honestly, it's a miracle that I am able to walk right now.

It's honestly not cause of any treatment that I have taken, I just take the best care of myself now more than ever and that is what, apart from The Most High has kept me.

In my understanding, your spine is shifted so essentially you would do everything heavier on the bent side which explains sciatica on my left side also.

Once the weight or pressure of what ever you are doing physically adds on over time causing adverse effect, example; Sciatica, but I must say that I had some warning signs that I ignored until it was too late.

Sever back pain was definitely one, that's how I ended up at the doctor getting an injection, so let me tell you what I experienced and am still going through:

1) First of all, you don't sit straight at all, instead, comfortable postions are mostly where your feet are in the most inappropriate place on the chair you are sitting on.

2) One of my shoulders is up in the air soring high right now. Honestly it's the worse when you have to stand straight to take professional pictures becuse your neck is all kinds of bent, then the camera guy is like, “can you please tilt your head a little to the right?” I have had those too many times.

3) In the morning, you wake up and attempt to bring your shoulder back down to earth but it's the worst pain you ever experienced, right between your shoulder blades and neck.
